Who is Eligible
Ideal candidates are early in their careers and demonstrate a need for housing and artistic support.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the US and at least 21 years old.
Applicants must be nominated by the artistic director of a theater company, playwright, or chair of a graduate playwriting program whom the Lark has invited to nominate (Nominated writers do not need to hold any kind of degree).
Applicants are not eligible to apply if they are currently enrolled in a degree-granting institution.

Criteria:
- A strong advocate of his/her work (namely, the nominator)
- Writes plays that are ambitious, fresh, engaging, energizing, provocative, powerful and theatrical and reveal unheard and vital perspectives
- Prolific and capable of meeting frequent deadlines
- Confident in his/her “voice” as a writer and has ample experience working with actors and directors in both rehearsal and production environments
- Committed to playwriting as a career
- Makes a strong case for being part of the Lark’s artistic community
- Exhibits a clear understanding of how to set forth artistic goals and is open to a development process focused on achieving those goals
- Desires to live and work in New York City
- At a "tipping point" in his/her career where the Lark's network of resources would be truly transformative
- Demonstrates a financial and housing need
